Our hardwood flooring selection includes options that are made to withstand decades of use and remain trendy throughout the years.

Types of Hardwood Flooring

Our hardwood selection includes a variety of species from which you can choose. Not only that but we also carry many different styles. Today’s popular wood looks include contemporary light wood looks as well rustic designs, which emphasize hardwood’s natural character. The different styles of hardwood are characterized by features such as plank length and width, wood grains, color, shine, and even texture. The different hardwood options include maple, cherry, oak, and birch, among others.

Is Solid or Engineered Hardwood Better?

Solid wood floors are more traditional and simple than engineered products. Each plank is high-end hardwood throughout and generally ¾ inch thick. Many of our solid wood collections can be sanded and refinished throughout the decades so that they look like a brand new floor. However, the planks can be prone to warping in high-moisture conditions, so solid wood is only recommended for dry, above-grade rooms.

Engineered wood planks are a newer addition to the market and are made by laminating 3 to 7 layers of composite wood together. At the surface is a genuine hardwood veneer that’s of various thicknesses. Each layer of wood is placed in a cross-grain direction to promote structural stability. This prevents the planks from swelling and warping. Engineered wood can generally handle spills and humidity better than solid wood, as well as heavy foot traffic. However, you may not be able to refinish your engineered planks as many times over the years. This depends on how thick the hardwood veneer is. Higher quality engineered planks have thicker veneers and can be refinished just as many times as their solid counterparts.

Where Can You Install Hardwood?

When your hardwood is properly installed and well cared for, it can last for years in your home while also adding value. Hardwood floors are durable and can withstand a lot of wear and use. Just make sure you follow the care instructions provided by the manufacturer and your warranty. Keep your hardwood floors away from areas with high moisture and humidity. Instead, have them installed in bedrooms or living rooms. Be sure to regularly clean them, not only will they look better, but they will also keep their appearance for longer.
